YES MASSAGE IS NECESSARY,
Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin. Cupping has been characterized as pseudoscience. Therapist puts special cups on your skin for few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help reduce pain, inflammation, increase blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.Through suction, the skin is drawn into the cup by creating a vacuum in the cup placed on the skin over the targeted area. The vacuum is created by mechanical pump. The cup is usually left in place for somewhere between five and fifteen minutes
• PISTOL – HANDLE VALVE CUPS
Most innovative and advanced way of cupping. The operator places the cup in the desired position, inserts the pump into the valve and then proceeds to pump air out of the cup, creating suction.
ADVANTAGE :The strength of suction can be adjusted from the valve, which is positioned at the top of the cup and via piston.
• BENEFITS OF CUPPING THERAPY ON SKIN
1. Rise in skin temperature
2. Promotion of metabolism in skin tissue
3. Better functioning sweat and sebaceous glands
4. Accelerates the secretion of salts and excretion of water
5. Strengthens the renewal power of skin
6. Increases skin resistance to various harmful condition
• EFFECT ON MUSCLES
1. Stimulates the expansion of blood vessels in muscle hence increase blood flow.
2. Facilitates the flow of lymph
3. Release of spasm
4. Pain gate mechanism
• EFFECT OF NERVOUS SYSTEM
1. Stimulates sensory nerves of skin
• EFFECT ON JOINT
1. Increase blood flow to the joint
2. Increase secretion of synovial fluids
• EFFECT ON BLOOD
1. Increase in blood circulation
2. Rise in low blood pressure
3. Influences the composition of blood : RBC and WBC, PH
ANY TRAUMA TO BODY CAUSES INFLAMMATION. INFLAMMATION IS THE FIRST STAGE OF HEALING.REPEATED TRAUMA LEADS TO MITOCHONDRIAL RELEASE WHICH IS JUST LIKE TREATING THE ROOT CAUSE.
• INDICATION
1. Fibromyalgia
2. Poorly nourished skin and muscle tissue
3. Bursitis , tendonitis and other inflammatory conditions
4. Stiffness and spasm leading to decreased range of motion and pain.
5. Stagnant lymph and edema

• Note : contraindication
1. Neurological deficit/ UMN lesion
2. High blood sugar- fasting more than 200
3. Hyperthyroidism
4. Subject on blood thinners – aspirin/clopedgral 80mg. ( Below 80 mg is allowed)
5. Extreme hairy area (hair on the part should be trimmed compulsorily)
6. Avoid during menstruation.
• Application-how often can be applied?
1. Subject is thoroughly examined. Subject is in relaxed position. Part to be treated is cleansed and a medium is applied to avoid friction.
2. Cups that are applied are cleansed and sterilised after every use. Number of cups applied depends on the condition of the part and differs from person to person
3. Static cupping is used for diagnostic purpose and deep muscle release.
Dynamic cupping is used for superficial muscle release.
4. The therapy lasts for 30 minutes including prior examination of subject.
5. The marks out of the therapy last for week/ less or more depending on personal healing capacity.
6. Subject is advised to not to have bath for next 12 hours/ avoid application of heat or cold.
7. Children under age of 16- once a week is acceptable frequency
8. Adults under age of 60 – as much as twice a week
9. Adults over age of 70 –once a week
10. Similarly, in ALL age groups when light empty or light moving cupping is employed , treatment frequency can be increased to as much as once every other day. This is because blood, energy and lymphatic fluids are gently stimulated rather than forcefully manipulated.
